Event Description

In 2017, Dr. Michael Holmes, who taught in Bethel’s Biblical and Theological Studies department for 35 years, was invited to be one of the general editors for a revision and update of the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV). After five years of intensive work by a team of more than 60 scholars, the NRSV Updated Edition (NRSVue) will be published later this year. His lecture will share an insider’s view of the challenges, frustrations, excitement, and results of this complex and challenging project whose goal (like that of the 1611 translators of the KJV) was “to make a good translation better.”
