Event Description

Textura is an international storytelling project created by Bethel’s journalism and graphic design students. Since 2017, students have reported and designed from locations across the globe, winning several national awards for the quality of their work. This documentary team traveled to Antigua, Guatemala, and immersed themselves in the local community to uncover and tell diverse stories with depth. While in Guatemala, the team met three men from the Guatemalan highlands who tried and failed to immigrate to the United States. This is their story.

Students, faculty, alumni, and our diverse communities are invited to join Edgren Scholars team, Dr. Scott Winter, Professor of English and Journalism, Senior International Relations/Journalism major Soraya Keiser, and film director Nataly Basterrechea, for the local premiere of their Textura documentary, Border of Dreams. After the 40-minute premiere, the team will share more about this award-winning immigration documentary they’ve been building for more than a year with a team of Bethel and Guatemalan storytellers.

Please join us for a reception in the CLC Lobby after our time in the Benson Great Hall.
