Learning Lab: Understanding the PSEO Student Experience

Minnesota’s PSEO program opens a side door to college for high school students who are prepared to meet college-level demands. Drawing on his experiences as a former high school teacher and current Affiliate Faculty, Dr. Olson explored the lived experiences of eight PSEO students and identified three intersecting themes-readiness and opportunity, social and psychological ripples, and transactional versus transformational learning-along with glimpses of challenges unique to the PSEO experience. Dr. Olson will share how the results of his research study effectively bridge the gap between high school and college, and invite reflection from our faculty colleagues about how to support these learners more intentionally.
