Event Description
When we read the story of Jesus’s life and ministry in the Gospels, each of us visualizes the narrative differently. We cast the characters, imagine the costumes and setting, and determine the tone of each line. Because of this dynamic, Jesus films provide an external point of reference that helps us reflect on how we mentally direct the story, which, in turn, impacts how we read the Gospels. To introduce this interpretive issue, and to celebrate the publication of their new book on the Gospels and Jesus films, The Greatest Story Ever Retold, Bethel Seminary professors Dr. Jeannine Brown and Dr. John Anthony Dunne will share some of their favorite examples of how Jesus films can help us become more perceptive readers of the Gospels.
Join us for a stimulating evening of conversation. Afterward, cinema-style snacks will be available in the foyer.
