Hands-On Journalism Experience Abroad

In January 2017, fifteen Bethel students embarked on a three-week adventure to Antigua, Guatemala. While there, students gained hands-on experience as digital journalists—taking high-quality photos, shooting video, finding and interviewing locals, writing stories, and designing page layouts. The result was Textura—a 114-page magazine filled with their culturally insightful work. As part of the project, students also created a website and worked with their Guatemalan partners to compile a video of their footage from the trip.
