Personal statement of no more than 1,500 words, double spaced, addressing the following questions:

1. Discuss three specific reasons why you feel that social work is a career that makes sense for you. What life experiences have led you to apply to the MSW program at Bethel University? What specific areas of social work practice are of interest to you?
2. As you consider the MSW program track, discuss your identified strengths and areas for potential growth. 
3. Using a current event as a starting point, identify a social issue that is of particular concern to you. Why is this issue important to you? How do systemic issues impact and influence the social issue you have identified? 
4. Reflect on your understanding of diversity and difference in today’s society and how your values impact your understanding and approach to your identified issue. 
5. Social Work practice is based on service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity and competence. Choose two of these concepts and discuss how they impact your understanding of social work practice and why they are foundational to the profession.
