At Bethel, we want to do all we can to help you successfully navigate through college life, and sometimes that means managing unexpected challenges due to illness or injury. Having health insurance helps you get the care you need and can keep medical expenses from derailing your educational goals.
Because of this, all Bethel students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences (even students enrolled for only 1 credit) are required to have health insurance through a family plan, an individual plan, or a plan that Bethel provides through a student health insurance provider, called Student Assurance Services. The plan must have a minimum of $50,000 coverage for each accident or sickness.
Providing Your Health Insurance Information
Every year, students complete their health insurance waiver form through Blink.
If you have health insurance through a family or individual plan, you will provide the following information on your waiver form:
- Name of Health Insurance Company
- Policy or ID Number
- Policy holder's name
Or, if you do not have health insurance, the waiver form gives the option to purchase the plan offered through SAS. The yearly premium will be added to your student account. The charge is not refundable. Student loans can be applied to this expense.
The deadline for completing this waiver is August 10, 2015. Students will not be able to move onto campus or begin classes if the waiver form is not completed.
CAPS/GS/Seminary students taking 6 or more credit hours are also eligible to enroll, and must contact SAS directly for enrollment. Visit www.sas-mn.com for more information and an enrollment form.
Student Assurance Services
Bethel partners with Student Assurance Services (SAS), a local plan administrator, to offer affordable accident and sickness plans to Bethel students who can enroll in the plan within 30 days of the first day of class or within 30 days from their loss of prior coverage.
2015-2016 SAS Premiums:
$1260 - Annual policy for CAS students 8/10/15 - 8/9/16
(Cost is adjusted for students entering Bethel 2nd semester)
Requirements for Student Athletes
The NCAA requires all student athletes to have coverage that meets the required minimum of $90,000 for each accident or injury and does not exclude intercollegiate sports accidents or injuries.
Student athletes participating in intercollegiate sports who do not complete the online waiver will not be able to begin practice.
