Bethel University is now offering a Transfer Admission Guarantee, which means that community college students who earn their associate of arts (A.A.) degree and meet GPA eligibility requirements can know that they’ll be admitted. This partnership furthers the work to make Bethel more financially accessible and will provide community college students with a clear path to transfer to Bethel.

“The Transfer Admission Guarantee is exciting for Bethel University, transfer students, and community colleges in the state of Minnesota,” says Adam Hippe, director of admission for the College of Arts & Sciences. “With the shifting view of the cost of college, we are still providing an excellent experience for students. We are striving to make the Bethel community more accessible to students through this opportunity.”

In order to be eligible for the Transfer Admission Guarantee at Bethel, students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 and a minimum GPA of 2.0 per course. They must also complete the Bethel application requirements, including an affirmation to the Covenant for Life Together. Upon enrollment, the A.A. degree will transfer in as a block, meaning all 60 credits earned will count toward their bachelor’s degree.

Bethel is currently working to establish pathways into specific majors to help students see how their coursework in community college will be received by the academic departments in which they wish to study at Bethel. Pathways to major in psychology at Bethel have been established with 16 community colleges, with more majors to be added in the future.
