Bethel University is excited to announce a new scholarship opportunity for Master of Social Work (MSW) students. The scholarships, offering up to $25,000, are available for Bethel students interested in providing school-based social work. To qualify, students must hold a Bachelor of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program and commit to working full-time in an eligible Minnesota school for at least one year following the completion of the MSW program.
Applications are open for the Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 cohorts, with a deadline of December 1, 2024.
Eydie Shypulski, MSW program director, is excited about this new funding, which will provide substantial financial support for students providing vital support services in schools across the state. She highlights that this significant grant underscores Bethel University's commitment to social work excellence. “This funding reflects the highest level of support for our mission and highlights our program’s recent recognition with the Council on Social Work Education's 2024 Field Innovation/Practicum Excellence and Innovation Award. It’s a testament to our leadership in preparing skilled professionals to meet the critical needs of our communities and advancing justice-informed social work practice,” says Shypulski.
Bethel offers numerous opportunities for students to launch a career in social work, including the traditional undergraduate B.A. in Social Work and the adult undergraduate B.A. in Social Work. These new scholarships offer new opportunities for BSW students to continue on and earn an MSW to explore new career opportunities.
These scholarships, along with the recently announced tuition repositioning in the College of Arts & Sciences, are part of Bethel’s ongoing commitment to reducing financial barriers and increasing access to Bethel’s transformative, Christ-centered education.
