Biography

Dr. Johnson is a developmental psychologist who studies the development of emotion, stress, and self-regulation throughout the lifespan. She investigates behavioral and biological processes that influence how we cope with social and emotional challenges. What thoughts and behaviors do individuals use to manage stress? When do children and adolescents develop these strategies? The big-picture goal of her research is to identify psychological and biological factors that support positive coping and resilience for children, adolescents, caregivers, and communities. She enjoys mentoring undergraduate research projects and teaching a variety of developmental, research and statistics courses.
