Biography

Soprano Cheryl Oie is a frequent performer and teacher in the Twin Cities area. She has been a soloist and section leader at House of Hope Presbyterian Church of St. Paul where she has sung extensively the works of Bach, Haydn and Mozart as well as opera and contemporary works. She has recorded with House of Hope and has a solo recording of hymns entitled Saint Songs. She has also been a soloist with the Bach Society of Minnesota and has performed with many arts organizations including the Minnesota Chorale, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Bach Chamber Players of St. Paul. Her roles have included everything from opera to musical theater. Ms. Oie has previously taught voice and related subjects at Edina and Wayzata High Schools, Southwest State University and Concordia University-St. Paul. She is certified in Kinder musik and has directed many childrens and youth choirs, including an annual summer music camp. She has served as the director of the Traditions Choir and handbells at Calvary Lutheran Church of Golden Valley and as an accompanist. Ms. Oie has been on the Bethel University voice faculty since fall of 1999 and is the coordinator of tours for the Bethel Chamber Orchestra and the Bethel Wind Symphony. She continues to maintain a private voice studio.
