Biography

I was raised in a Christian home shaped by the devoted faith of my loving parents. Around the age of thirteen, my faith became very important to me and I began to grow deeply in my understanding of Christ and his church. I attended Bethel College [sic], where I began a degree in Psychology. I would later add Youth Ministry as a second major, after sensing a call to ministry.

Bethel’s emphasis on biblical studies—along with a study tour of Israel—sparked a lasting interest in Old Testament studies and provided a space to think critically and faithfully about theology. I received an M.A. from Luther Seminary (St. Paul) and a Ph.D. from Hebrew Union College (Cincinnati, OH). I value my time at both institutions, where engaging in a variety of theological perspectives both strengthened my convictions but also provide greater insight into other traditions.

Prior to full-time ministry, I taught at several institutions as a Visiting Professor, Adjunct, and Teacher: Xavier University (Cincinnati), Wright State University (Dayton), Hebrew Union College (Cincinnati), and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. I taught a large variety of courses in Bible, theology, languages, history, and mythology.

Since my days at Bethel, in one role or another, I have continually served at one church or another: as youth leader, youth pastor, worship leader, Sunday School teacher, Associate Pastor, and Lead Pastor. I am ordained pastor within Coverge North Central and I am excited to serve our conference by teaching at the seminary.

I love music, especially when I can play in a group. I particularly enjoy learning fiddle tunes on mandolin, guitar, and banjo. During the summer, my family enjoys performing in a bluegrass band. If you hear of any Bethel folks who’d like to pick, please let me know.
