Biography
Hailing from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, John Povolny has performed in a diverse number of music projects over the last 15 years throughout the Twin Cities. John received his B.A. from Luther College and M.M. from the University of Minnesota. John has performed throughout the Twin Cities with ensembles such as Grand Symphonic Winds and the Northern Symphony. He also serves as Director of Bands at John Glenn Middle School in Maplewood, MN. When he is not teaching, John performs in the marimba/vocal duo, "Bohemian Heartbeat" with his wife, Dr. Caroline Povolny. John's teachers include Earl Yowell, Fernando Meza, Peter Kogan, Leigh Howard Stevens, and Bob Becker. John enjoys spending time with family and is an avid runner.
