Biography
Kevin Shull is Director of the Music and Performing Arts Department at Bethel Univeristy. Shull began at Bethel University in the Department of Music in 1997. He has primarily served as the producer of Bethel’s annual Festival of Christmas celebrations and organizer for the numerous performance activities and travels of Bethel’s music ensembles. No stranger to the stage, Shull grew up in a family of performers and often found himself in front of an audience in a band, orchestra, choir, handbell ensemble, doo wop quintet, or collegium musicum ensemble! Shull has served in church music leadership positions for over four decades. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas and his Masters of Music in Church Music from Southwestern Seminary. Little known facts about Shull: He played trumpet for the world premiere of an opera in London in his teens, once danced with the Joffrey Ballet, and at age eight played happy birthday on his recorder for Aaron Copland’s 70th birthday. He is not always the first one in the building in the morning, but he’s usually the last to leave.
