Areas of expertise
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I provide psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families, along with psychological services such as assessments and expert opinions to various organizations. Philosophically, I follow a systems perspective, which understands the human person and his/her well-being within the context of interpersonal relationships. I employ a number of techniques in my clinical work, including scientifically validated models of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy and emotionally focused therapy. I also have a professional, academic, and personal background in Christian studies/Christianity, which has a significant influence on my professional work in helping people to make therapeutic change and experience healing.
I have worked clinically as a psychotherapist since founding a private practice in 2008. I have also worked in an adolescent day treatment program. Prior to my work as a psychotherapist, I worked for several years as a youth and family minister (non-ordained) and teaching religious studies in Twin Cities Christian communities.
I have lived in the Twin Cities for 40 years, and currently live in St. Paul with my wife and son.
I have given a variety of presentations on psychology and spirituality around the Twin Cities.
