Biography

Wayne Raman-Nair was born on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and moved to the island of Newfoundland (Canada) where he got married to Cathy (1988). They have two children who live in Canada. Before joining the department of Physics and Engineering at Bethel in January 2023, he was a Research Engineer at the National Research Council of Canada (24 years) and an Engineering instructor at the Marine Institute in St. John’s, Newfoundland (7 years). He holds B.Sc. degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering (University of the West Indies), as well as Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Ocean Engineering with a focus on Applied Mechanics (Memorial University of Newfoundland). His research work has been in the area of simulations of multibody dynamics systems in the ocean environment. Wayne and Cathy hold to the doctrines of Reformed Theology. They continue to seek God’s Kingdom at Bethel and in a church community in Minnesota.  In his spare time Wayne enjoys playing the guitar.
