Last February, three Bethel teams competed in the COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling. The teams had four days to create a mathematical model to address one of two prompts. In April, one of Bethel's teams was designated an "Outstanding Winner" by the judges, won two additional awards, and was invited to Washington D.C. to present at the nationwide MathFest conference. In this presentation, the winning team members will describe their process for creating their winning model, which can help searchers find airplanes that have been lost over open water.
