Event Description

The faith and work movement continues to gain ground in today's churches. Yet much of the dialogue does not speak directly to the unique experiences of women in professional marketplace and ministry roles. We seek to change that. Together, we want to help you consider the following question: How are you participating in God's redemptive story through your work?

At this evening networking reception, gather with like-minded women to make new connections and get recharged after the workday. Join us for a time of fellowship that includes refreshments and conversation with a panel of professional women. Grow your circle of friends as you build mutually encouraging relationships.

You'll come away with:

  • An expanded ability to see your faith and daily work integrated
  • A new sense of how God is leading you
  • A vision for what vocational theology means for you personally
  • Encouragement to look for "God moments" in your workday
  • An understanding of your work as a reflection of God's creation

Make a Difference

Attendees are encouraged to practice generosity as part of the event. Through partnership with a Thrivent Action Team, women are invited to bring laundry detergent and/or diapers in sizes 3 or 4. These items will be donated to the M.O.M.S. Program, a nonprofit that provides much-needed education, advocacy, and resources to single-parent families in Dakota and Scott counties.

About the Panelists

Jo Saxton is an author, speaker, leadership coach, church planter, and visionary who empowers women, challenges societal stereotypes, and helps people discover who they truly are. She serves as the Chair of the Board for 3DM, a nonprofit that equips churches in discipleship and mission, as well as on the advisory board for Today's Christian Woman. Jo also co-hosts the popular Lead Stories Media podcast with Stephanie O'Brien and has been a featured speaker at the esteemed National Day of Prayer. In January 2018, she released her much-anticipated new book The Dream of You: Let Go of Broken Identities and Live the Life You Were Made For.

Heather Hammond is the internal communications specialist at Evereve, a national fashion and styling company with more than 85 stores coast to coast, a booming online business, and a styling box service called Trendsend. She manages internal communications for the company's over 1,500 employees and also supports public relations for the executive team. Before Evereve, Heather worked as a freelance writer and a health coach, taught and directed theater and playwriting at the college level, and was a high-school English teacher--she obviously loves new challenges. As a pastor's daughter and now a pastor's wife, faith is central to every adventure she undertakes.

Terry Rasmussen was named president of Thrivent Financial in 2015. She leads the organization's core fraternal business and is responsible for its insurance manufacturing and membership benefits. She also leads the career agency system of nearly 2,400 financial representatives. Before Thrivent, Terry served in legal positions with American Express and Ameriprise Financial. She began her legal career in 1984 as a trial attorney in the tax division of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. She serves on the board of the InFaith Community Foundation and was recently part of the international B20 Financing Growth Taskforce.
