Event Description
Knowing what you are reading is important for reading the Bible well. Recognizing genres in the Bible is an important part of the interpretive process, but there has been something of a neglect of genre analysis in the discipline of Biblical Studies. Two new books out this year by Dr. Andrew Judd (Modern Genre Theory, Zondervan Academic) and Dr. Jeannine Brown (Embedded Genres in the New Testament, Baker Academic) seek to fill in this attention gap.
Join Jeannine and Andrew for an online conversation about the genres of the Bible and why we should turn our attention to them. This conversation will be moderated by Dr. John Anthony Dunne of Bethel Seminary and The Two Cities Podcast. After brief overviews of each book, Judd and Brown will talk about the benefit of attending to genres for understanding what biblical authors are communicating. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions during the online session for discussion.
The event is free of charge, with registration required. The Zoom link will be provided in your registration confirmation.
This online event will take place on Thursday, November 7, from 7-8 p.m. Central Time (Saint Paul time), which is Friday, November 8, from noon-1pm AEST (Melbourne time)
