Event Description
You are invited to join Bethel Seminary for engagement with Dr. Christopher Watkin—Bethel Seminary’s 2024-2025 Karlson Scholar. Dr. Watkin will present on his recent book, Biblical Critical Theory: How the Bible’s Unfolding Story Makes Sense of Modern Life and Culture, and then engage with participants in discussion about its thesis and relevance to the church.
About our Speaker: Dr. Christopher Watkin
Christopher Watkin is Associate Professor of French Studies at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, where he lives with his wife Alison and their two children. He is the author of nine books, including Difficult Atheism (Edinburgh UP, 2011), French Philosophy Today (Edinburgh UP, 2016), Thinking Through Creation: Genesis 1 and 2 as Tools of Cultural Critique (P&R, 2017), and Biblical Critical Theory (Zondervan Academic, 2022), which won the Christianity Today Book of the Year award in 2023.
