Event Description

The "Uhhh, you there?" exhibition includes a body of mixed media works that have been developed over Henderson's spring 2018 sabbatical. The work visualizes a place between distraction and attention, consideration and contemplation, clarity and distortion, present and transcendent, skimming and mining. Wrestling with the tensions of living both a temporal and a digital life, the work combines collage, text, surface disruptions, digital prints and analog screen-printed layers.

Jessica Henderson is an artist, freelance designer and Associate Professor of Graphic Design at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended Bethel University for her B.A. in Studio Art and completed her M.F.A with emphases in 2D mixed media, print and bookmaking from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Henderson has exhibited work at Burnet Gallery, SooVAC, Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the Soap Factory and was an Arti(ists) on the Verge 7 fellow in 2016.

Henderson will give an artist talk about her work on November 8 at 6 p.m. in the Eastlund Room (Lundquist Community Life Center Level 2). An opening reception will follow in the Johnson Gallery.
