Student Veterans of America

Bethel’s Student Veterans of America (SVA) chapter is a student-led group with a mission to support military-affiliated students, provide community service, educate the community about military service, and to improve the college experience for military-affiliated students.
Student Veterans of America
Formed in 2019, we are the first SVA chapter in Bethel’s history. Our group consists of students and alumni who are serving or have served in the military, along with the children of military members and staff/faculty who have served in the military. We join more than 750,000 student veterans in more than 1,500 chapters in all 50 states and four countries.

SVA activities and efforts include:

  • Community: Monthly dinner meetings foster fellowship and build community. These dinners often include educational sessions on topics like how to use LinkedIn and how to access the Veterans Administration for health care.
  • Support: SVA cultivates a robust support network for military-affiliated community members. We host prayer send-offs for students entering the military and leaving for training, send care packages to deployed students, and more.
  • Advocacy: We review Bethel policies that impact military-affiliated students and utilize the Office of Military and Veteran Services to advise the university on how to improve policies and processes.
  • Collaboration: Along with partnering across campus, we collaborate with the SVA chapters or nearby universities and with SVA leadership to further our mission and support military-affiliated community members.

SVA Student Leaders: President Annah Chriske and Vice President Alex Telford.
