Bethel University recently celebrated the commencement of 1,038 graduating students: 540 from the College of Arts & Sciences; 325 from the College of Adult & Professional Studies and Graduate School; and 173 from Bethel Seminary, including graduates in St. Paul, San Diego, and from Bethel Seminary of the East.
Bethel University graduates heard from commencement speaker David Asprey ’84, the 2014 College of Arts & Sciences Alumnus of the Year, whose address was titled “Milestones.” Asprey earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Bethel University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa Physician Assistant program, and holds both a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa College of Education. He is assistant dean in the Office of Student Affairs and Curriculum in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and is professor and chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and Services. His clinical practice as a physician assistant includes four years in emergency medicine and 22 years in pediatric cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
