Here are important financial aid dates and deadlines for the 2016-2017 academic year.

January 2016

  • We recommend submitting your previous year's federal tax returns before completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Then if possible, utilize the IRS Data Retrieval process to reduce the chance that your FAFSA will be selected for verification.

  • Bethel starts sending financial aid awards for upcoming school year.

April 15, 2016

  • Priority deadline for new students to apply for financial aid for the upcoming academic year. (Later applications will be processed, but may receive reduced funding.)

May 10, 2016

July 1, 2016

  • We recommend all families submit verification materials by July 1, prior to starting the fall term.
  • Begin all loan processes by this date to ensure funds will be received in time for the beginning of fall term.
  • Sign up for the optional monthly payment plan.

August 1, 2016

August 15, 2016

  • Bill due for fall 2016 semester. Classes begin on Monday, August 29.

September 20, 2016

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline for fall semester Minnesota State Grant.
  • The financial aid office begins adjusting aid for students who do not meet eligibility requirements (e.g., on-campus housing; enrolled less than full time; and MN State Grant adjustments).

December 9, 2016

  • Last day to request a federal (Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, or PLUS) loan for fall 2016.

January 15, 2017

  • Bill due for interim and spring semester.

January 31, 2017

  • FAFSA deadline for spring semester Minnesota State Grant.

February 10, 2017

February 15, 2017

  • Bethel begins adjusting aid for spring 2017 for students who do not meet eligibility requirements (e.g., on-campus housing; enrolled less than full time; and Minnesota State Grant adjustments).

March 31, 2017

  • Deadline for appeals for reduced income and unusual financial conditions for the 2016-2017 academic year.

April 14, 2017

  • Private loans take at least 30 days to process so if you need a private loan for spring 2017, be sure to apply by this date.

May 12, 2017

  • Last day to request a federal (Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, or PLUS) loan for spring 2017.
