Biography

Abbie Marten has always been fascinated by the human body. She grew up wanting to work in the medical field, until she discovered her passion for teaching about the human body. She is from Mitchell, South Dakota and received her B.A. in Biology from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. She got her Master of Science in Anatomical Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Although she loved the warm weather in Alabama, she wanted to move back closer to her family. She previously taught Human Biology and online Microbiology and is now an Instructor of Human Anatomy in the Biological Sciences Department at Bethel University. Her previous research involved creating an ultrasound model for practitioners to practice diagnosing Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA). Currently, Abbie is very interested in the use of 3-D printed anatomical models in the classroom. In her spare time, Abbie is probably watching basketball, golf, or football with her husband. She is very competitive and loves to play yard games, golf, disc golf, sand volleyball, or just enjoy the outdoors! She cherishes the time she gets to spend with her family and friends.
