Event Description

The Widening Hold is an immersive, site-specific installation that encompasses the site of the Olson Gallery. It is an experiential encounter that is meant to thoughtfully engage the visitor into reflection and contemplation. The work invites awareness to the immediacy of the moment and yet also to a transcendent sense of time and space.

Join us for an Artist Talk with Olga Lah on Thursday, February 15, at 6 p.m. in the Eastlund Room! There will be a reception with refreshments following the talk.

 

Physically on View: February 15–April 21, 2024. The Olson Gallery is open Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

About the Artist: 

Olga Lah is a Korean-American artist, born and raised in the Los Angeles area. She received a double B.A. in Studio Art and Art History from the University of California at Riverside. She also received an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She explores ideas on existence in large-scale, site-specific installations. Her work engages with themes of transcendence, perception, and phenomenological experience. She has exhibited extensively including at the Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach, CA; Craft Contemporary, Los Angeles; Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions; and Los Angeles International Airport. Her work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, The Korea Times, LA Weekly, OC Weekly, KCET Artbound, and Los Angeles Magazine.
