Between Tide and Horizon is a curated collection of the work of Los Angeles based artist, Dan Callis. His work is shaped by a love of material practices, the humorous and painful experience of being human, and what poet Christian Wiman has called "accidental" theology.

Artist

Dan Callis (born Long Beach, CA) is a Southern California-based visual artist and arts educator specializing in interdisciplinary explorations. He earned an M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate University. Callis pursues a studio-based practice, working across painting, sculpture, and installation art. Alongside his individual studio practice, he has developed an extensive body of collaborative work with a diverse range of partners, including individuals with physical and developmental disabilities; a field biologist in Baja, Mexico; a sociologist in Las Vegas; a theologian from Duke Divinity School; a poet and musician from Southern California; a performance artist and puppeteer from Rhode Island; and multiple artists in a collaborative response to the music of American composer Morten Lauridsen.
