About BUILD

The Bethel University Inclusive Learning and Development (BUILD) program is a two-year, postsecondary residential program for young adults with intellectual disabilities that focuses on academic, vocational, residential, and social learning experiences. BUILD students will earn a certificate, develop skills to live independently, and fulfill their God-given potential.

The Need

Bethel University focuses on developing the whole person: academically, spiritually, physically, and relationally. That's what makes Bethel's program different: our holistic, Christian approach to higher education.

Get Involved

We believe strongly in the need for and potential of this program. Is your heart stirred by this special opportunity? Please consider a gift to BUILD.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 to fund start-up costs to:

  • Hire a program director
  • Prepare curriculum and materials
  • Make required facilities accommodations
  • Start a scholarship fund

During the 2017-18 school year, West Pharmaceutical Services provided a $10,000 grant that Bethel used to purchase 20 iPads and protective cases, six Apple pencils, and one Apple TV and cables set for new students. Because the BUILD program is committed to launching each student with the tools needed for success and independence, graduates of the BUILD program keep their iPads so they can continue their established routines of self-care, daily planning, and ongoing learning.

Join us to help young people with intellectual disabilities prepare for a rich, full, and more independent life!
