Tim Essenburg, Professor of Economics at Bethel University, and his wife Joani have spent 22 years living in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. An area known for crime, gangs, drugs, and prostitution, the Essenburgs had a vision for a Christian community-development program like no one had ever seen. Their focus on education and after-school programs prepared students for state standardized tests and college entrance exams and resulted in recent acceptances into schools like Yale, Marquette University, and St. Catherine University.
Their amazing story was featured in the Minneapolis Star Tribune on May 13, 2012. Read full article here.
