Bethel's Royal Legacy Committee helped the community celebrate the 174th birthday of John Alexis Edgren, Bethel's founder, on February 20.
The Bethel community celebrated the birthday of Bethel University founder John Alexis Edgren on February 20. The celebration was sponsored by the Royal Legacy committee, a group of students working to create awareness around the traditions and history of Bethel. The students gave away birthday cake, party hats, and magnets. Visitors were challenged with questions about Bethel’s Swedish-born founder, and the group launched its own Facebook page to commemorate the 174thbirthday of this important figure in Bethel’s past.
“We want to emphasize community—especially our history—and bring it to life. Our aim today is to get our name out there and celebrate Edgren’s birthday,” says Erin Etter, Royal Legacy committee member.
