Bethel alums Carissa and Chris Carroll have been getting a lot of attention lately for creating Jack’s Basket, a charity with a mission to celebrate each child born with Down syndrome and to congratulate the family with gifts, support, and resources. About 18 months ago, their second son, Jack, was born with Down syndrome and the couple was not prepared for the diagnosis. On Jack’s first birthday, Carissa got the idea for Jack’s Basket and has provided baskets to many families at local hospitals.
The Pioneer Press covered the Carroll’s story on November 2 and WCCO-TV ran a feature story a few weeks ago. Carissa graduated from Bethel in 2003 with a degree in physical education. Chris graduated with a business degree in 2004 and currently works as an assistant professor of human kinetics at Bethel.
