Bethel Alum Wins Excellence Award

Bethel University alum Emily Anderson recently received the Economic Educator Excellence Award from the Minnesota Council on Economic Education. A 2004 social studies education graduate, Anderson also completed a Master of Education degree through Bethel’s graduate school, and now teaches economics at Blaine High School in Blaine, Minnesota. She notes that the most rewarding part of her job is the opportunity to connect with students, but also finds it exciting to be recognized by colleagues.

Anderson was awarded the district’s Top Teacher Award after her first year of teaching, and was a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 2014. Blaine High School Principal John Phelps described her as an “extraordinary educator” and leader in public education.

Anderson was featured in the local ABC Newspaper for her award and overall contribution to education in her school district. Read the ABC Newspaper story here.
