Controller Named for Bethel University

Amy Blaz comes to Bethel with more than 10 years of accounting experience at businesses in the Twin Cities.

Amy Blaz started in late May as the new controller for Bethel University. Blaz will oversee the accounting responsibilities for the university, including managing the business office. For the last four years, Blaz worked as the controller of the Minnesota division of D.R. Horton Inc., the nation’s largest home builder.

“We reviewed a number of top-quality applicants for the controller position, but Amy’s qualifications really stood out,” says Patrick Brooke, chief financial officer. “I am very happy that she is bringing her management skills as well as her excellent accounting and finance credentials to our Bethel team.”

“I am excited to take on a new challenge at Bethel and in higher education,” says Blaz. “The business office has a solid foundation that I look forward to building upon as we move into the future.”

Blaz has additional accounting experience from working at two credit unions and the Toro Company for six years. Blaz received her bachelor’s degree in accounting and management from St. Mary’s University in Winona and went on to complete her MBA from St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis.
