Tips for Your Search

A few helpful things to consider as you begin looking for openings:

1. A great first step in any job search or transition is building (or updating) a professional ministry resume. We’re happy to review what you’ve put together and give advice on developing a dynamic resume (and cover letter) that highlights your passions and strengths. You can also find resources through our Office of Career Development and Calling.

2. Begin the important task of networking. Have conversations with people who know you. Get to know people whom you don’t know. Learn about the culture and ethos of various organizations and churches. Get connected.

Individuals secure jobs by getting to know people involved with the organization they’re pursuing. So three cheers for networking!

3. Pray. While this step may seem obvious, it’s of utmost importance to hear the voice of God in and along your career path, wherever you are on that path. Take time to sit and pray, listening to God’s nudges as you explore next steps. What is God saying to you? How are you feeling led by God’s calling on your life?
