Below are the technology requirements for students in the College of Adult & Professional Studies and Graduate School. Please note that the requirements below are subject to change.
General Requirements
- Basic competency in Microsoft Office 2010, 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or equivalent. (Word 2010 Essential Training video series is available free through Bethel's agreement with Lynda.com)
- Access to the required computer hardware and software for the entirety of the program
Hardware Requirements
- Computer purchased within the last 3 years (PC or Mac)
- Reliable high-speed internet connection (≥256 kbps) CDRW/DVD or DVD+/-RW
- One of the following:
- Microphone and speakers
- Microphone and headphones
- Headset with combined microphone and headphone
- A Webcam is also recommended, though not required
Software Requirements
- Virus protection software
- Java Runtime Environment
- Microsoft Office
- Updated web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Safari)
- Macromedia Flash Player
For students enrolling in the BS Accounting, BS Business, BA Organizational Leadership, MBA or MA Strategic Leadership, these additional requirements are needed:
- Assignments must be submitted in Microsoft Office Format (i.e, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx). There are a variety of software packages that support these formats, including Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, and Google Docs.
- Automatic, cloud-based backup/file sync utility (such as Dropbox or Google Drive). Keep all Bethel and course assignments backed up at all times.
- Software necessary to support online communication (Google Hangouts, etc.)
- Adobe Reader (free online)
- Apple Quicktime (free online)
