About
Key Commitments
At Bethel Seminary, Christ is the compass guiding how we learn, lead, and live together. Seminary students come from diverse backgrounds, but we are united by a shared commitment to formation through Scripture, community, and character. These commitments—rooted in Bethel’s Covenant for Life Together and Affirmation of Faith—form a foundation for trust, growth, and accountability. Together, we cultivate a community that reflects the love of Christ and prepares us to lead with integrity in a complex world.
Key commitments include:
- Participating in Christian community and practices for spiritual growth
- Rejecting discrimination and treating others with respect
- Making wise, healthy choices in leisure, media, and social engagement
- Caring for God’s creation and avoiding materialism
- Living free of sexual misconduct, pornography, and exploitive behavior
- Honoring sexuality through fidelity in marriage (between one man and one woman) and abstinence in singleness; cohabitation is not permitted
- Abstaining from drugs, tobacco, and other controlled substances
- Using alcohol only in moderation and only when not engaged in Bethel-sponsored activities or on campus
