Eligibility
Beginning with the 2021-2022 award year, eligibility for Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program is expanded to recognize the citizens and enrolled members of federally recognized tribes of Canadian First Nations, regardless of degree of ancestry or "blood quantum". Students may now demonstrate they meet the American Indian ancestry requirement for Minnesota Indian Scholarship by submitting documentation that meets all of the following:

- Includes student's name and date of birth
- Lists the student's blood quantum or degree of American Indian ancestry or clearly states student is an enrolled member or citizen of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation.
The Minnesota Indian Scholarship is awarded by the state of Minnesota to Minnesota residents who meet the above criteria and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is awarded on a first come, first served basis. Recipients must be enrolled at least 3/4 time and demonstrate need.
Prior to 2021-2022 Minnesota residents who are one-fourth or more ancestry could be eligible for this scholarship. It is important to note, students continue to be eligible if they possess one-fourth or more American Indian ancestry from one or more federally recognized tribe or Canadian First Nation.
