Here's a quick list of what you might want to bring for your first year in Bethel housing. Make sure that every box or suitcase is labeled with your name, residence hall, and room number.

Your room comes furnished with a closet, bed, dresser, and chair. A typical residence hall room size is 15' x 11' (rooms vary in exact measurement). We also provide basic loft beds in all freshman halls. Student-built lofts are not allowed.

Bed and Bath

  • Bed sheets (extra long twin, 80 inches)
  • Blankets or comforter
  • Pillow
  • Mattress pad
  • Towels
  • Washcloths or loofahs
  • Bathrobe
  • Shower caddy
  • Shower flip flops
  • Bathroom supplies
  • First aid/medication supplies

Desk and Computer

  • Surge protected power strip
  • Lamp (no halogen bulbs)

  • Desk supplies

Laundry

  • Laundry bag or basket
  • Hangers
  • Iron of handheld steamer (optional)
  • High efficiency (HE) laundry detergent
  • Tide To-Go stick
  • Sewing kit and safety pins

Around Your Room

  • Mini refrigerator
  • Microwave
  • Coffee maker
  • Toaster
  • Alarm clock
  • Storage stackables and/or storage bins
  • Wastebasket
  • Area rug
  • Decorative curtain for closet

Extra Stuff

  • Extension cords (three prong, grounded)
  • Light bulbs (for any lamps that you bring)
  • Closet organizers

  • Removable or over the door hooks
  • Scotch's blue painter's tape or pins for hanging items on wall
  • Seasonal decorations

What to Leave at Home

  • Halogen lights
  • LED light strips (unless you plan to use pins or painters tape to hang them to avoid damage charges)
  • Non-grounded (two pronged) extension cords or power strips
  • Candles
  • Incense
  • Pets (Fish are an exception. All fish must be kept in aquariums that do not exceed a 10-gallon capacity.)
