- Only living alumni of Bethel University are eligible.
- Current Bethel University staff or faculty members, current members/spouses of the National Alumni Board or current members/spouses of the Board of Trustees are inelegible because of their perceived influence in the selection process.
- First-year nominess who are not selected may have their nominations carried forward for consideration the following year.
