Advisory Council

move-in

The Bethel University Parent and Family Advisory Council works to support the university’s Christian mission to nurture persons in their development of intellect, creativity, faith and personhood. Council members have a first-hand understanding of the impact the university has on students and their families. Members seek to strengthen the relationship between the university and the parents and families of current undergraduate students; encourage relationships within the Bethel family; and positively represent the university to others.

Qualifications

Parent and Family Advisory Council members are passionate about supporting Bethel as a Christ-centered university, have a currently enrolled undergraduate student, and serve for one year with the possibility of being asked to serve an additional year.

Responsibilities

As a group, the Parent and Family Advisory Council annually identifies a specific way they can support at least one element of the university’s strategic plan and then leads in the implementation of the plan – emphasizing student success; enhancing the Bethel community; extending the university’s reach, or ensuring financial strength.

Other than attending 1-2 meetings per year, Parent and Family Advisory Council members will choose their areas of interest for serving at events (listed on application). In other words, Parent and Family Advisory Council members will not all attend Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Launch Events, Family Gatherings, etc. Rather, they will choose 2-3 activities that fit their availability and interest.

Benefits

Bethel is grateful for the investment Parent and Family Advisory Council members make in serving the university so extensively. To show appreciation for this service, Parent and Family Advisory Council members are given:

  • Frequent updates throughout the academic year.
  • Deeper connections with Bethel administrators and staff members and other board members (as appropriate).
  • Invitations as the university’s guest to the Family Weekend football game and other events as appropriate.
