Seek God by serving over spring break in a cross-cultural context that fits your major, vocational, or personal interest.
Date
March 11-19, 2022 (could vary slightly).
Location
San Jose, Costa Rica
The Experience
Nestled in the central highlands of Costa Rica is the capital city of San José. Bethel students will minister in Desamparados on the southeastern edge of the city where the urban environment provides unique ministry opportunities and challenges. You’ll get to know the people and the culture as you stay with Costa Rican host families, learning about what God is doing in their community.
A full list of sites is available here, but the ministry experiences will include art, community and environmental health, education, social work, and microfinance.
Excursion options such as the beach, zip-lining and La Paz Waterfall Garden provide an opportunity to explore this biologically diverse country.
Our Ministry Partner
Students International is a ministry laser-focused on meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people in hard-to-reach communities in Latin America. Their full-time staff lead ministry sites to serve those in need year round. Students serve alongside SI missionaries and make a real difference in the lives of people they serve. Short-term mission, long-term Impact.
Fundraising Goal
$33,500
Who Should Participate
More cross-cultural ministry experience and proficiency in Spanish are helpful and valued in this team's selection process.
We will be intentionally matching Bethel students with available spaces on ministry sites based on vocational interest, personal experience and skillset. The team does not spend all its ministry time in their vocational ministry site. We may also take part in other creative ministry programs as requested by our hosts, so we'll look for students with a desire and ability to be energetic, spontaneous, and adaptable.
Our hosts will also facilitate the team in experiences and lessons to help grow our understanding of God’s global presence and cross-cultural ministry. So students who are prepared to learn and grow will thrive on this trip
