Preparation for ministry at Bethel Seminary San Diego is both "in the classroom" and "in the field." We enhance the classroom learning experience with an internship that includes on-site support and mentoring.

Planning Process

The internship program is woven into the course curriculum. The director of supervised ministry will help each student map out an effective internship plan.

The internship is an eight-month experience working in a paid ministry position where you’ll immerse yourself in hands-on learning. Throughout the year, you’ll meet with your on-site supervisor, off-site mentor, and classroom peers to help you assess your progress along the way.

  • Eight-month internship—400 supervised ministry hours for M.Div. and M.A. in Ministry in a paid position
  • Peer reflection group meetings (in class)
  • On-site site supervisor meetings (at ministry site)
  • Off-site mentor meetings

Spiritual, Personal, and Vocational Formation Final Interview

Toward the end of the internship, all students take part in a spiritual, personal, and vocational formation final interview to process their experience. We’ll review your assessments and help you set goals for what you’d like to pursue after graduation.

  • Final exit interview
