Summer Terms

Most summer courses run during one-half of the summer term. Some may run the entire length of the summer term. Courses vary in length and may overlap.

Course Scheduling and Timelines

Course Load

Students just graduating from high school who are taking their first Bethel class may only enroll in a total of two summer courses, with no more than one course per term. Current Bethel students and students attending other universities may take up to 12 credits in summer school, but may not take all 12 credits in Term A, Term B, or Term C. Students should evaluate their other summer activities and responsibilities in deciding how many summer school courses to take. All courses are offered for credit but may be taken for non-credit (audit) if space is available.

Grading

Grading is A-F, unless stated otherwise in the course description. Grades earned in summer school will be included in the Bethel GPA of all new and current Bethel students.

Changes in Registration and Scheduling

  • All changes in registration initiated by the student must be made according to the Add/Drop and Withdrawal dates (below). Bethel reserves the right to withdraw, modify, or add to the list of courses or the course descriptions. Classes that fail to meet minimum enrollment are subject to cancellation.
  • Students withdrawing will not receive a tuition refund if they fail to notify the Office of the Registrar or are suspended from the university.
  • Students who register for a summer school course and decide to not take the course but do not withdraw by the withdrawal deadline for their course term may be charged tuition for the course.
