Clinical Year Curriculum and Requirements

All students must complete each core rotation, including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Women's Health, and Pediatrics, as well as elective rotations to complete the clinical year. Most clinical rotations will be 4-8 weeks, but there may be variation depending on site availability, access to required patient populations, and individual student needs.

  • Students in the Bethel University PA program are never required to provide or solicit their own clinical sites or preceptors.
  • All clinical sites must have an established affiliation agreement with the Bethel University PA program.
  • Students are required to complete a minimum of 30% of their rotations outside of the Twin Cities area. This requirement provides students with a variety of practice settings to ensure that each student receives a well-rounded education. (Please note: Due to state licensing restrictions, students completing supervised clinical practice experiences outside of Minnesota are unable to access university counseling and health services. During these times, students should use personal health insurance to obtain needed counseling or healthcare.)
  • International rotations may be used to meet elective requirements. Information pertaining to travel health requirements based on current CDC recommendations for international travel can be found within Bethel University’s Study Abroad Resource page.
