Office of the President

The president's office works collaboratively with teams throughout the institution to align university efforts in support of Bethel's mission.

The Next Chapter

For almost 25 years, President Jay Barnes and his wife Barb have called Bethel home. First as provost and then as Bethel's fifth president, Jay led Bethel toward its vision to become the Christ-centered university of choice for this century. Now, the time has come for the next chapter in Bethel's presidency to begin. On February 28, 2019, Jay announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2020. Learn more about his decision and hope for Bethel's future in his letter to the community.

Presidential Search

After almost 150 years of preparing women and men to serve for God's glory and our neighbors' good, Bethel is looking for a passionate leader to serve as its 6th president. Our search will begin with the formation of a search committee and continue with the development of a presidential profile before we evaluate candidates. Learn more about the presidential search process and nominations.

Bethel Leadership

The president partners with leaders who represent areas of work central to Bethel, including academic affairs, finance, external relations, student life, as well as the Board of Trustees to set the strategic direction and determine priorities for the university.
