General Information

Anyone operating a vehicle on Bethel University property is responsible for knowing and complying with all traffic and parking regulations.

Parking is regulated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Finding a legal parking space is your responsibility and lack of convenient parking is not considered a valid excuse for violation of parking regulations. We reserve the right to restrict parking to anyone without prior notice.

You are required to observe the traffic regulations and drive safely, yield to pedestrians at all times, and follow the posted speed limit.

A vehicle is considered parked if it is left unattended for any length of time. This includes circumstances where the vehicle is left running and/or has the hazard lights on.

If visitors are parking overnight, a Bethel community member must obtain an overnight pass.

Bethel University and the Office of Security and Safety is not liable for any damage to a vehicle caused by, but not limited to, vandalism, theft, hit and run, collision, or acts of God such as wind, hail, or falling objects.

Parking Areas

Permits are only required for on-campus parking during the college school year. This also applies to all breaks during the school year.

To assist you in using our parking lots, a color code has been established.

The color designation on lot signs matches the color of your permit. The following permit colors will allow you to park in the below-specified areas.

  • Blue:  All parking lots except for the Townhouse Lot. The Seminary Faculty Lot is restricted to only Seminary employees. **Non-resident employees with a blue permit are only authorized to park in the East lot south II Lot overnight.
  • Green: East, East Lot North, East Lot South, East lot South II, West, SRC, Scandia, Ona Orth, and Anderson. **Overnight parking is only allowed in the East South II.
  • Brown: Heritage Lot and the rows in West Lot painted red.
  • Orange: East Lot South I, and SoHo Lot.
  • Red: Scandia, North Woods, and North Waters Lots.
  • Silver: Lissner Lot, Townhouse Lot, Upper East North and Scandia

Our lots are often full, but locating a legal parking space is the responsibility of the driver. You may want to allow extra time when coming to campus on busy days - especially weekdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. If main parking lots are full, you must find a space in the SoHo Lot or on road in front of the SoHo Lot (across from Hwy. 51).
