In early 2017, Bethel Seminary's Work with Purpose Initiative partnered with the Made to Flourish pastors' network to choose the winner of our first-ever Sermon Competition. Six pastors submitted sermon recordings that were reviewed by a panel of three Bethel Seminary professors. It was hard to choose from such great material, but after carefully considering each entry, we are thrilled to announce that the winner is...

Erik Dunkin, College Pastor, Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls, Iowa

Erik’s role at Prairie Lakes Church is to come alongside college students so they can mature in Christ. He leads theRiver College Ministry by providing oversight for all of its events and groups and teaching for theRiver’s weekly large group meeting. He has a wife and two boys, and they enjoy going on walks around the neighborhood and exploring the amazing bike trails of Cedar Falls.

Erik won the $500 grand prize award. According to our team of judges, he "put a lot of time into this sermon" and his "message flowed intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally."
