Current Open Positions within Sodexo at Bethel University

We look ahead to Fall 2021 as a time where we can embrace community again on Bethel’s campus.  As we broaden our offerings for the fall, we seek culinarians, cashiers, serving staff, and dishwashers to help lead us into the school year.  We need people who have experience in large volume food venues as well as those looking to grow in their hospitality career.  Take a look at the opportunities listed below and follow the links to the online applications. Sous Chef - Full Time

Sodexo at Bethel University is looking for a full time Sous Chef to oversee our fast-paced university kitchen.  This person must have experience in cooking large-quantity, scratch-made foods including sauces, soups, and other food items.  He or she will oversee a team of approximately 80 employees alongside our current sous chef and will report to the executive chef.  This position is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to advance in their culinary career as Sodexo offers many next level opportunities within the company. 

The sous chef will generally work supporting the lunch and dinner meals.  However, some flexibility is needed for large catering events throughout the school year.  Starting salary is $21.00 per hour and may increase based on experience. Click here to link to the application.

Stir-Fry Cook - Full Time

We are looking for two full time Stir Fry Cooks to prep and serve either Made to Order stir fry or Grand Wok stir fry entrees in our all you can eat dining center.

One position is needed Sundays preparing the Sunday dinner Grand Wok entrée and preps sauces, proteins & vegetables for the upcoming week.   Monday – Thursday he or she works a varied schedule that includes prep, preparing made to order entrees for lunch with a 2nd stir fry cook, and preparing Grand Wok entrees for dinner Tuesday – Thursday evenings. All Grand Wok entrees are menued Sodexo recipes and include a meat & vegetarian or vegan option.  Approx. hours Sundays 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Mondays 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Tue., Wed., Thur. 10:00 am – 7:30 pm.

All applicants will be needed for sporadic large campus events that often occur on evenings and weekends.  Our incoming Stir Fry cooks will have the opportunity to train initially with our retiring Stir Fry cook who has been at Bethel for over 20 years. Click here to link to the application.

Evening/Weekend Lead Production Supervisor - Full Time

The weekend and evening lead production cook will oversee all operations of our university kitchen under the supervision of the executive chef.  He or she will lead a team of 10-15 full time, part time and student workers to provide excellent customer care and maintain the safety of our operation.  This person should have experience in large batch production cooking as well as the ability to teach and train others.  Generally the position will be a few evenings and all weekends, but could vary based on business needs. Grill Cook - Full Time

The Full Time grill cook works in a restaurant style cafe serving students, staff and faculty at Bethel University.  He or she is part of a team serving about 200 guests for lunch each day with nearly half coming from the grill station.  This person will be responsible for the prep, cooking, and clean up of the station each day, resetting for the next shift before leaving.  Generally, the schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, but may include evenings or weekends as catering and other business needs arise. Cold Pantry Lead - Full Time

The Full Time Lead Cold Panty Cook is responsible for overseeing a team of about 10 people in the cold production and salad bar area of our main dining center kitchen and is responsible to the executive chef.  He or she will oversee and assist with all cold food for catering events, oversee the salad bar in our dining room, and support our team who makes all of our prepackaged sandwiches, salads, and snack items sold through our retail outlets.  He or she will need to have a creative eye for presentation of food and develop new menu ideas alongside our catering manager and executive chef.  This person will generally work Monday through Friday daytime hours, but will need to be flexible for large campus events and other business needs. Click here to link to the application.

Front of House Supervisor - Full Time

We are looking for a high energy, organized person who can oversee our front of the house team of students and full time/part time associates.  This person oversees a team of 10-15 people and will report to our operations manager.  General responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of our univeristy dining center.  He or she will support the Monday-Friday lunch and dinner meals and will work occasional weekends for large university events. Cold Pantry Cook - Full Time or Part Time

We are looking for our catering and in person dining to pick up this fall in our 2021 school year and we are looking for a person with a flexible schedule who can support our cold pantry in large scale production, maintaining our salad bar, and supporting catering events as needed.  The ideal candidate would have a flexible schedule for about 32-35 hours each week for full time or 15-25 hours each week for part time, and includes occasional nights and weekends and will support a team of 2-3 others. Lead Dishwasher & Utility - Full Time

The Lead Dishwasher and Utility person will oversee all dishwashing and cleaning of our large commercial kitchen.  He or she will be the evening closing person ensuring that all cleaning including dishes, trash, floors, etc. will be completed before leaving.  This person will be responsible for leading a team of 2-8 people including full time, part time, and student staff.  The ideal candidate will be a responsible, hard working, team player who can delegate, but is ultimately the lead person for ensuring the cleanliness of our kitchen.  We serve approximately 800 people for dinner each night in our all you can eat dining center and have several catering events each evening as well. Dishwasher - Part Time

We are looking for a part time person to wash dishes, help with trash removal and assist with general cleanliness of the kitchen.  The idea candidate will have a flexible schedule with mostly evening and weekend shifts. Click here to link to the application.

 

Panini Cook - Part Time

The panini cook is part of a team in our a la carte dining location with Sodexo at Bethel University.  He or she will prep, setup, cook, and clean up his or her station and reset for the following day.  Typically, the panini station will see anywhere from 50-75 orders each evening and can be busy.  This person also assists in other areas of the business including, but not limited to, handing out orders, cashiering, cleaning the dining room, washing dishes, and other tasks as needed.  Generally, this person will work Monday through Thursday evenings, but the schedule could vary based on business needs and availability.
