Savi Update: Summer 2026 Student Loan Repayment and Relief Changes
Publication Date - July 23, 2026
Federal student loan policy has recently seen some of the most significant changes in years. The SAVE plan has ended, the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) is now underway, new borrowing caps have taken effect, and Parent PLUS loan restrictions are now in place.
If you or a family member has student loans, your repayment situation may look different than it did just a few months ago. As a Bethel University employee, you have exclusive access to Savi—a tool built to help you understand exactly where you stand, lower your monthly payments, and stay on track for loan forgiveness.
What has changed?
New federal policies are shifting how repayment plans, borrowing caps, and Parent PLUS loans are managed. These updates directly affect:
- Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) plans: Transitions away from sunsetting plans like SAVE to options like the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP).
- Forgiveness pathways: Staying on track for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) under current federal guidelines.
- Borrowing caps and Parent PLUS rules: Navigating updated loan limits and repayment structures.
