Gene Peterson, Director of Choral Activities
The Bethel Choir, a mixed choir of 65-70 voices, is Bethel’s flagship choral organization. The choir performs a wide variety of sacred abd secular repertoire and participates in all of Bethel’s major festivals, touring annually throughout the United States and overseas. The choir is comprised mostly of upper class students and has represented Bethel at home and abroad with high reviews for nearly 70 years.
The Bethel Women’s Chorale is an ensemble of auditioned women singing repertoire written especially for advanced treble voices. The choir performs contemporary choral pieces as part of Chapel Choir in chapel, local and outreach concerts, and participates in Family Weekend, Festival of Christmas, and Classics in the Great Hall events with the entire Bethel music program.
The Bethel Men's Choir is an ensemble of auditioned men that peforms music form the historical glee club tradition and repertoire compose especially for male chorus. The choir performs contemporary choral pieces as part of Chapel Choir in chapel, local and outreach concerts, and participates in Family Weekend, Festival of Christmas, and Classics in the Great Hall events with the entire Bethel music program.
The Chapel Choir is open to the entire Bethel community. It is a non-auditioned mixed choral ensemble that performs a wide variety of sacred repertoire including contemporary Christian, Gospel and traditional hymnody as part of chapel and participates in the annual Festival of Christmas.
The Bethel Festival Choir includes members of the Bethel Choir, Bethel Women’s Choir and Bethel Men’s Choir, and, in the fall, the Chapel Choir. The Bethel Festival Choir performs major choral works combined with the Bethel Festival Orchestra at the annual Festival of Christmas and Classics in the Great Hall concerts.
